If you are the commissioner of a group, but like to see how many players sign up before you choose the team size and the games you will play, flex setup can help.
When setting up a group match, the first screen looks like this:
You have 2 choices:
Open Registration: This option allows you to open the registration for the next match without having to choose the game or the team sizes. You can wait until the last minute if you like to setup the rest of the game, choose team sizes, make pairings, etc.
Complete Setup: If you know the game you want to play and the team sizes, and want the system to run pairings 24 hours before the tee time.
Most commissioners will want to use Open Registration. This gives you more flexibility so you can get an idea of who signs up and the game that would work best.
As an example, 24 hours before the first tee time, you have 18 players signed up. If you played teams of 4 or 2, the last 2 players to sign up are not going to play because there is no one to play with them to complete their team.
However, a team size of 3 allows you 6 groups of 3 players. Everyone can play. You can wait up until the first tee time to make your pairings and start your match, so even if you have last minute cancellations you can modify the game. With the complete setup option, you can't do that.
