Group Match Setup

Setting up a group match is easy and takes less than 60 seconds.

Updated over 3 months ago

To setup a group match, begin by going to the groups menu:

Then choose the group you want to setup the match for:

In the group page, at the bottom click setup match:

Next decide if you want to 1) Open Registration Only or 2) Setup the Complete Match. Most will open registration and setup the rest of the match later.

Next you will enter the parameters of the match that are required:

Select Course: If your club has more than 1 course, choose which course the match will be played on.

Allowed Mens/Womens Tee Block: This lets you limit the tees players can use for the match. Default is all tees available.

Default Tee Block: Players choose the tee they want to play when they opt into the match, this selection is what the drop down defaults to for each player.

Tee Time Setup: Linear is tee times that start at a specific time and continue one after another. What you would call normal tee times.

Shotgun: Every tee time starts at the same time but on a different hole. Commissioners choose what holes their group has been assigned by Pro Shop.

Crossover: Linear tee times that start on both Hole #1 and Hole #10. Commissioners can assign multiple times.

Make sure to enter all of the tee times your group has, TeeRival will assign groups to each time and make sure your group does not exceed the times it has been assigned.

Once you have opened registration, the screen will look like this. Asking you to complete setup, but don't do that until closer to the day of play. This allows your group to opt into the match.

Once players have opted into the match and you are a day out from the first tee time (you can wait until 5 minutes before the tee time, but that may be a little too close) you can click "Complete Setup" and you will enter the rest of the details of your match.

Pay close attention to how many players have registered as you decide on the team size. For instance, if you have 16 players you can play teams of 2 or 4 and all players will play. But if only 15 signed up, teams of 3 or 5 are better.

Once you save the games and other settings you want for your match, you will be taken back to the main group screen and the system will be ready to create pairings.

Now if you are more than 24 hours away from the first tee time, TeeRival will do the pairings for you at the 24 hour mark. But if you are less than 24 hours away, you will have to click the "Make Pairings" button. This will instantly create the teams and the tee times for each group.

The screen will then show the "Start Match" button. We would recommend not clicking this button if there is more than an hour before the first tee time, as this allows players to actually begin scoring. TeeRival will automatically start the matches 30 minutes before the first tee time.

If you are inside 30 minutes, or you just want the match to start and be available early for players, click the "Start Match" button and the match has begun. Your job is done, the match is ready.
