Overview of Group Marketing and Invitations
Now that you have created a group, its time to invite/approve players to be members of your group. As a group commissioner, you have complete control over who can be in your group.
When members want to join your group, they must first install TeeRival on their phones.
This is probably the largest hurdle in terms of getting new players to join. While most of us use phone apps for many things in our daily lives, it is not intuitive to think of phone apps when it comes to golf. Tee Sheet apps are breaking that barrier and hopefully your friends and fellow golfers will find TeeRival just as easy to use.
When you want players to download the app they will see your group, you have a few options depending on what is most comfortable:
Refer them to our app store link
Send them a text message with either the app store link or web address at teerival.com
Word of mouth “Hey, download TeeRival and you will see our group”
Flyers, Business Cards, or brochures (if you want to get really fancy!)
Email a list of players with the links to the app store or website.
Regardless of what you choose, the main goal is to have players download the app and setup an account. I say that because once a player has TeeRival, the app markets your group to them automatically.
Member Joining Process
During the setup process, after a new user chooses what club they play at (they can setup up to 5 clubs) the next screen shows them a list of groups they qualify for.
“Qualify” meaning their gender and handicap fits the criteria of your group. So if your group is only for men, women will not see it. If your group handicap range is from 6.0 - 12.0, a player with a Handicap Index of 3.8 will not see your group.
When players qualify for your group, they see a join button that once pressed, applies for membership in your group.
As commissioner, you will be notified when a new player applies for membership and will be directed by that notification to go to the “Members” page of your group. There you will see these two tabs:
The “Pending Approval” tab allows you to accept the player or reject their request.
Assuming you accept the player, that player now moves into the “Members” side of the screen and they will be notified every time you setup a match for the group.
Member Removals
In the event that a member no longer wants to be in the group, or you decide to remove the member, you can do so from the “Members” screen of the group.
Every player has a gear icon next to their name, if you click it, you will see this option to remove them from the group. Once removed, a member will not be invited to any future matches.
